Answers:
if he is a quarter horse or other stock breed then cut his mane so that it is about 4-5 inches short. For showing band it (put it in little pony tails evenly spaced out, use little rubber bands you buy at a tack store) or braid it, have an instructor or adult show you how to braid. There are different ways to braid for showing, but you take each individual little section then braid it down, tie the end with yarn, use a latch hook to pull it through into a little bun. Tie it with the yarn.

TB's and other english type horses have short manes aswell, and always braid them.

For arabians, morgans and pleasure type horses, keep their mane long and clean. For western type riding leave it down. For english french braid it down the crest.

For some breeds it is correct to 'web' their mane. This is when you divide a long mane into many pony tails, then band together every 2 sections, and so on. It will eventually look like a web.

A couple of good sites:

If you groom your horse a lot, and take good care of him he will appreciate it, and it will be obvious he is in good hands. Dont worry so much about details like how his mane is style for just every day. Also make sure not to turn him out in the pasture, or leave any of these styles in his mane, if you turn him out with a braided mane then it will get caught and ripped out.
add some highlights!
Braid his hair and stick cute little clips in it and brush through it frequently.
well first of all, like shampoo it Whit a good horse shampoo brand, so it look shiny and all, then like braid it.
you can braid it or kink it..that would look to cute
