What are the advantages of having a cat instead of a dog?

Answers:
Cats don't need to be walked everyday.
Hei ya.A cat loves to sleep while a dog loves outdoor activity with you.
Cats walk themselfs. Dogs don't

cats will only learn miniumum commands ( mine fetch a toy mouse and bring it back to my hand)

Dogs will learn dozens of commands.

personal choice,
I believe dogs needs more attention than cats. What can you give?
a cat needs a lot less attention - not just by nature, but they dont have to be walked every day, most dont need as much general grooming, they dont need as much training..

Im still definitely a dog person though... they give back so much more - cats just seem to take and rarely show any actual emotion or personality.
.
Cat are leaner so there is a lot less fat and gristle than on a dog. easier to skin as well I would think
think of it like this. getting a dog is like having a child
a cat is like getting a roommate
depends on your time and patience you are able to give
cats are more laid back you dont have to let them out every couple of hours and they dont beg for table scraps they dont bark and theyre not as "clingy" they become protective over certain indeviduals they aren't as hectic as dogs in large groups
cats are a low maintanance pet. feed it ,let it out ,and love it
I love dogs as well as cats, but I now have 4 cats. They are a lot less demanding; you don't have to let them out to potty and they don't need to be walked. They can be left alone in the house all day or for a few days at a time (I always have someone come to feed them).

Cats aren't quite as affectionate as dogs, but they are loyal and loving. My hubby's "pet" cries when he leaves the house in the morning and waits for him at the door at night. Hubby rescued him after he was dumped off behind a grocery store at only 3 weeks old and the cat thinks that he is his "mom/dad". We both love him to pieces, but he does prefer hubby.

Cats are funny to watch; each has their own little signature habits and moves. They like to sleep a lot.

Until I am retired, I will remain a cat person. Then I plan on getting a boston terrier. In addition to my cats, of course.
I always say you don't own a cat they own you. I have both cats and dogs. All cats require is a meal and a place to keep warm. They are independent little devils and can take care of them self. When they want to be petted they come to you other then that they want to be left alone. Where dogs are just the opposite. The only time I see my cats is when they hear a can open up.. My dogs ae always with me.
Firstly a cat goes to the toilet by digging any burying it while a dog goes anywhere and you have to pick it up. A dog needs to be walked whereas a cat doesn't. A dog needs to be washed and a cat will clean itself. A dog will bark loudly while a cat quietly meows.
Sometimes cats prefer to be left alone and do well when you go to work for 6-9 hours. Dogs however would rather be with the family and can be destructive if left at home for any length of time.
It all depends on you and what you like and your own personality. If you are very active you should get a dog. If you're a homebody you're better of with cats. They are more independent. However, cats like to play too. But truthfully, they both require love and attention. Some people think that you can get a cat and as long as it has food and water that nothing else is needed. That is not true at all. They say that simply because they don鈥檛 want to spend time playing with the cat. Cats do enjoy human attention. However, if you do leave them alone, never touch them or play with them, then they will ignore you and stay away from you. This is not good for the cat. They need to be socialized even more than dogs. Dogs are friendly by nature but cats need a lot of attention or they become wild and unsociable. Don鈥檛 let this happen to your cat if you ever get one.
